Well, I spent a lot of time there as a child in the 70s/80s and wonder how much has remained the same since then. I wonder why you like living there.

I arrived in this region in the mid-90s. A big part of what works for me is the sense that my relationships with other people, and even institutions to a certain extent, are small and human-scale. Additionally, the feel of being on the land is a series of human inholdings (fields, homesteads) into a much larger, forested, and significantly in-tact wild ecosystem. I feel more grounded in reality when our human story is played out as a small part of a much larger natural world - and that's the sense I have living here. I find it makes it easier to think clearly, and to take on the kind of project we're working on here.

I say that living on 41 acres in a town of about 1,000. I get the sense that Burlington has rapidly begun to take on the problems and character of many US cities....

Well said and makes a lot of sense. Regarding kairos and chronos, I gained a lot of understanding on time from the book Journey Out of Time by Arthur Custance. We can practice presence with eternity now, but after leaving time we will be eternally present. https://custance.org/Library/Journey/pdf/index.html
